University Information
Universities are a vital partner in the development of the growing life sciences industry. To that end, we have developed a number of avenues that will enable university technology transfer officials to become involved in the conference. This event will showcase the emerging companies spun from biomedical research institutions from all along the East Coast.
- University and medical center technology transfer representatives will have an opportunity to nominate companies linked to their research portfolio to give a presentation to venture capitalists at the conference. A review committee composed of venture capitalists from across the nation will conduct the final screening of candidate companies, and offer selected companies the opportunity to present to an estimated 500 participants representing venture capitalists and Fortune 100 companies. Contact gbutera@bio.org to nominate firms, or encourage them to directly apply through this Web site.
- Universities are invited to nominate one (1) very early-stage company that is 12-18 months from serial funding to participate in a pre-conference boot camp to prepare it for future presentations. There will be no cost for this company to attend (a $295 value,) subject to BIO’s approval. Boot camps will take place May 23 in Montreal, Canada and May XX in Princeton, NJ. CEOs of early-stage firms nominated by a university can utilize the boot camp experience to learn how best to eventually approach the VC community in their presentations. Companies can be recommended via email and will be approved by BIO up to the date of the bootcamp.
- The first 35 attendees from East Coast universities and medical centers are invited to attend the conference at a deep discount university registration fee of $295 per attendee. Hotel and travel costs are not included. To get the university discounted rate, contact register@bio.org for a registration code, and use our online form at http://bvfeast.bio.org/opencms/bvfeast/2006/registration/index.jsp.
Other benefits of attending include
- learning first-hand through workshops and panel discussions about current trends in the financial markets and their impacts on early-stage biotechnology companies as seen by industry and venture capital leaders from across the nation;
- pro-actively developing relationships with venture and other financial providers;
- being a part of regional efforts to promote industry-university collaborations.
